Wanaka is a relatively large town with a population of just under 10,000, situated along the shores of the lake.
The journey from Tekapo to Wanaka takes approximately 3 hours. Along the way, you can take a break at Lake Pukaki before continuing southward. Please note that Lindis Pass rarely closed during the winter season, so care should be taken when planning your itinerary.
